COURSE DESCRIPTION
Objectives: Communication Skills II is intended for students with an upper-intermediate level of English. The aim of Communication Skills II is to improve students? academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and bring them up to an advanced level for academic study in English.
Content: Communication Skills II provides students with an authentic framework in which to develop their understanding of key areas of their own fields of study, while at the same time giving them the opportunity to improve their language skills through a wide variety of relevant and challenging activities. The students are expected to cope successfully with the lenghty reading texts written for their own academic fields as well as for the fields other than their own. The students will also make use of the glossary prepared for their own academic fields. As for writing, the students are expected to write a persuasive essay and a communication research report in which they will do a research about a topic on their own academic field and support their points through summaries, paraphrases and quotations from those researches. The students will write their essays within the constraints and applications of MLA or APA style (depending on the format applied in their faculties). They will also be expected to give a 20 min presentation on their essyas.
